Art - during workshop
You will be carrying back with you a minimum 10 finished art works (water
colors, drawings, terracotta, puppets, photographs) created by you during
the workshop. While in the workshop, you will be assisted by professional
watercolorists/ sculptors. Lectures will be illustrated by renowned scholars
on traditional arts, contemporary arts and Indian culture. Along with this,
there would also be a few live demonstrations by folk, tribal and traditional
artists.
About us
Organizers:
A family of painters spreading over three generations. Living and practicing
in the city of Udaipur, P.N. Choyal, Shail Choyal, Surjeet Choyal and Akash
Choyal are well known signatures on the art scene of Rajasthan and India.
P.N. Choyal: A renowned veteran painter of high reputation, P.N. has had his art education in India and London. He was the professor and head of the painting department at the University of Udaipur till his retirement. He has held several solo shows in different capital cities of India, received ten prestigious awards and shown his works at Algeria, Japan, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Lisbon, Cuba, Singapore, U.S.A. Malaysia, and Canada etc. P.N. Choyal has extensively traveled to Europe, Latin America, Japan and south East Asia as a state guest and in personal capacity.
Shail Choyal: Painter, printmaker, teacher and a muralist Shail Choyal is popularly known for his nostalgic art in India. Having completed his master's degree in painting from Udaipur he went to study Graphics (printmaking) at the Slade College, London and after return to homeland did his Doctoral thesis on 'Nathdwara Painting'. Shail Choyal has taught art at the University of Udaipur for about 30 years. Recipient of 22 prestigious awards in various exhibitions, Shail has participated in innumerable distinct prestigeous exhibitions in India and abroad and has held his one person shows in different cities of England France, Latvia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan and Indonesia. Shail Choyal has extensively traveled to east and western European countries, USSR Japan and Southeast Asia. Shail Choyal has been known as an art camp organizer and has convened around 16 art camps/ workshops of professional artists in the city of Udaipur.
Surjeet Choyal: Painter wife of Shail Choyal, Surjeet is widely known for her psycho thematic art that she delineates in a photo realist genre. Her art has a social commitment that helps her ordinary local transcends into a rare artistic experience. A post graduate in fine arts Surjeet has practiced art for almost 30 years participating in innumerable celebrated and distinct art exhibition in India and abroad .She has received number of awards and honors in India .she has widely traveled to east & west Europe and south east Asian countries. She has attended numbers of art camps and workshops in India and abroad.
Akash Choyal: A talented artist son of Shail & Surjeet, Akash is a postgraduate in fine arts from Delhi college of arts. An installation artist, Akash is a fast emerging talent who has been invited to several celebrated arts shows in India. He has participated in several art exhibitions in Mumbai, Delhi and U.K. and has been commissioned to design and execute a big mural in Gujarat State. Deeply interested in Indian philosophy, Akash is an easygoing person and loves to move with own pace and ideas.
