Our holiday art tour and workshop in the city of Udaipur, India
offers you a most fascinating and exciting program that will keep you engaged
for a whole week / 10 days / 15 days in creative activity, acquiring knowledge
about Indian art and culture. In addition you will be carrying back with you
a minimum 10 finished art works (water colors, drawings, terracotta, puppets,
photographs) created by you during the workshop. While in the workshop, you
will be assisted by professional watercolorists/ sculptors. Lectures will be
illustrated by renowned scholars on traditional arts, contemporary arts and
Indian culture. Along with this, there would also be a few live demonstrations
by folk, and traditional artists.

UDAIPUR - the location
Udaipur is one of the very distinct cities of India widely known
for its incomparable 'medieval' architecture, chivalrous history, cheerful and
robust exposition of its people and brilliant colors.
Endowed with extraordinary palaces, lakes, temples, gardens, Udaipur is situated
in a most picturesque valley in midst of Aravali hills, which happen to be oldest
mountain ranges in the world.
Strolling in the streets of this 450 years old city with protruding architectural
balconies is a dream walk for the modern man. The multiple lakes add to the
magic. The life at the shores of these lakes has been the source of inspiration
to the photographers and painters world over.
During the workshop, you will be housed in a beautiful and a comfortable hotel, situated in the heart of the walled city with views over looking the famous lake Pichola. Rooms here have a traditional décor and are facilitated with attached baths/toilets with hot and cold showers. This hotel shall be serving you continental and Indian meals to suit your taste extending a most comfortable stay.

Art tour Packages
There shall be two kinds of Art workshop
(1) Finesse - for beginners and hobby artist.
The bookings are open for 7 days/10 days/15 days program beginning from January 2003 through March 2005.
(2) Visionaries - for professionals already involved in art practices.
(1)Finesse
This program will facilitate absolute beginners, hobby and Sunday Artists. This program could be attended by anyone interested to explore the joy of painting, clay modeling and puppet making. The workshop will be assisted by practicing artists accompanying the group They shall demonstrate the handling of the medium, explain the nature of the paper and other materials, selecting the sites and spots for every individual. The group will also be served drinking water, tea, and coffee at the working area.
The Package:
The package will include a comfortable stay, meals, transport, art materials,
and one time entry fee to all places of interest we make you visit .The organizers
will ensure that you incur no extra expenses on anything excepting your personal
marketing, hard drinks, tobacco and laundry while with us.
(2) Visionaries
This program facilitates the professional artists who are independent in their creative endeavor and are well aware of their art materials and needs. The main aim of this program is to extend the maximum possible facilities for practicing artists coming in groups or as individuals to capture Udaipur's cultural milieu, which has a distinct character. Furthermore, they could carry back finished product (art works) to their home country utilizing our services for their oils, prints, sculptures, installations etc.
Facilities within the package:
The package will include a comfortable stay at a hotel, meals,
transport and one time entry fee to all places of interest within Udaipur municipal
area ;
Members of this group will be accompanied by an attendant carrying their art
materials, photographic equipment and other necessary materials required out
doors; Male / female models could be arranged in specific costumes ( extra charges).
Studio facility for painting / printmaking (lithography, etching, serigraphy
only), installations and stone carving assisted by professional carver.
Packing and transportation of all finished works to the artist's
home country will not
be commune's liability. However, the commune will extend its full assistance
in packing and transportation but with the owner's own risk.
Prices on inquiry for a minimum seven days program with a facility of extensions.
Art - during workshop

About orgniser...
Organizers : A family of painters spreading over three generations. Living and practicing in the city of Udaipur, are well known signatures on the art scene of Rajasthan and India.
A renowned veteran painter of high reputation has had his art education in India and London. He was the professor and head of the painting department at the University of Udaipur till his retirement. He has held several solo shows in different capital cities of India, received ten prestigious awards and shown his works at Algeria, Japan, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Lisbon, Cuba, Singapore, U.S.A. Malaysia, and Canada etc. P.N.Choyal has extensively traveled to Europe, Latin America, Japan and south east Asia. as a state guest and in personal capacity.
Painter, printmaker, teacher and a muralist is popularly known for his nostalgic
art in India. Having completed his master's degree in painting from Udaipur
he went to study Graphics (printmaking) at the Slade College, London and after
return to homeland did his Doctoral thesis on 'Nathdwara Painting'. Shail Choyal
has taught art at the University of Udaipur for about 30 years. Recipient of
22 prestigious awards in various exhibitions, Shail has participated in innumerable
exhibitions in India and abroad and has held his one person shows in different
cities of England France, USSR, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland,
Japan and Indonesia.
Shail Choyal has extensively traveled to east and western European countries,
USSR Japan and southeast Asia.
Shail Choyal has been known as an art camp organizer and has convened around
16 art camps of professional artists in the city of Udaipur.
Painter wife of is widely known for her psycho thematic art that she delineates
in a photo realist genre. Her art has a social commitment that helps her ordinary
local transcends into a rare artistic experience.
A post graduate in fine arts Surjeet has practiced art for almost 30 years participating
in innumerable celebrated and distinct art exhibition in India and abroad .She
has received number of awards and honors in India .she has widely traveled to
east & west Europe and south east Asian countries. She has attended numbers
of art camps and workshops in India and abroad.
A talented artist son of is a postgraduate in fine arts from Delhi college of arts. An installation artist, Akash is a fast emerging talent who has been invited to several celebrated arts shows in India . He has participated in several art exhibitions in Mumbai, Delhi and U.K. and has been commissioned to design and execute a big mural in Gujrat State. Deeply interested in Indian philosophy, Akash is an easygoing person and loves to move with own pace and ideas.
